Reclaimed hand hewn barn beams are being used in many custom homes to add a unique warmth and sense of history that only old reclaimed wood can bring.

This beautiful home in Maryland is a great example of what can be achieved by adding hand hewn barn beams.

These beams shown here are in our log cabin office and are about 6 inches square.

Pictured at left is a reclaimed Oak plank that has been newly hand hewn

We take old planks and beams that were not originally hand hewn, saw them to size and then add the hand hewn character.

By first sawing to size and then hand hewing, we have more control over the exact size that the beams and planks are available in.

At right is a picture of our Hand Hewn Fir. 

 

The beauty of Douglas Fir is readily visible because most of the original surface is milled away revealing the grain and warm reddish color of the inner heart wood.
